On Lohna, the Uncrowned Capital
From the collected writings of Witch Lord Bertwin Gisking Bearspear

The Lohna Star System stands as the most populous system in all the Drucos Nebula. Once, in the early days, it was but a minor holding of the Galan peoples of Drala, valued, yet overshadowed by the splendor of Hebura. But under the long reach of the Feyan Star Dominion, Lohna grew in prominence, becoming one of the brightest jewels of Drala’s crown.

When the Feyan fleets withdrew, Lohna was among the first prizes claimed by the Glessum Furse. Yet the system was too great a temptation to remain in a single hand. In those turbulent years it passed from the Star Kingdoms of Camul and Grim, into the grasp of larger realms, Catuvella, Iken, Angul, Gaint, and Gewiss, each seeking to make it their own.

In the days of King Ecgwynn the Wandering Conqueror, vast resettlements were made across Vellaun, Catuvella sectors, and Lohna itself. Under her hand, Lohna swelled with new life.

Later, in 27,408 AA, King Unferth Umbra Lightningborn, known as Unferth the Great, the third to be named High King of the Dralan Furse, raised the first Feyan temple here since the Dominion’s withdrawal, the Great Feyan Temple of the Golden Light. In that same year, Sector Pontiff Aurora Aetos Templeborn was named the first Pontiff of Lohna, the fourteenth such Pontiff in the Drucos Nebula.

By 27,532 AA, the system’s spiritual authority had become currency in the great game of crowns. King Baldwin the Bold sold the seat to Pontiff Oswine Wraethu Bullborn. Two centuries later, King Uhtred the Great would reward loyal followers with holdsteads in Catuvella and Lohna alike.

The fortunes of Lohna shifted often. In 30,078 AA, King Ladgertha the Strong Peacock of Angul and King Hildred the Noble Wyvern of Gewiss jointly reopened the Royal Mint and Hoard upon the world of Lohna, enriching both their kingdoms.

Yet wealth draws wolves. In 30,101 AA, a great Skane fleet swept through Gaint star sector and into Catuvella, seizing Lohna itself. The next year, King Cynhild the Wolf of Angul tried to reclaim it, but was driven back to Vellaun. The Skanes later abandoned the system, only for it to fall into the hands of the Great Savage Crusade, the vengeful children of Rothgar the Fearless.

Lohna became a staging ground. In 30,156 AA, fleets gathered here to strike the Star Kingdom of the Frakka upon the death of Lord Protector Sigurd the Bald. After Osgar the Great broke Oughtred the Old in battle, the system was ceded to the newly-formed Skanelaw under the Peace of Osgar and Oughtred.

But Osgar’s conquests did not end there. In 30,172 AA, he retook Lohna, and in that same year was crowned King of the Dralans, counted among the great High Kings of history. Lohna would fall again to the Skane in 30,190 AA, who fortified it heavily. Gewiss tried its strength against them more than once, but it was Osgar who returned to lay siege to the system, forcing the Skanes to withdraw to Grauth and Camul before the year’s end.

The most storied defense of Lohna in recent memory came in 30,383 AA, when Sector-lord Ceolbert the Brave of Catuvella stood against Frea the Adventurer at the Battle of Maldune. Outnumbered and abandoned by his allies, Ceolbert fought on, inflicting grievous losses before falling. His last stand became the stuff of poems and holo-dramas, and though King Oswald the Ill-Advised was forced to pay Frea to withdraw, the blood-price Ceolbert demanded spared the sector greater slaughter.

Today, Lohna is often called the uncrowned capital of the Star Commonwealth of Drala. Though Belgar holds the title, Lohna is the largest, and most politically alive system in the nebula. Here, King Oswald the Ill-Advised holds his court, not in Belgar’s ancient halls, but in the glittering spires of Lohna.

The so-called Star Kingdom of Lohna was short-lived, swallowed long ago by the Star Kingdom of Catuvella. Yet the system’s place at the heart of the Star Commonwealth, its wealth, its gates, its voice, makes it a crown in all but name.
